Bhubaneswar, May 22: In a bold step to enhance tourism and infrastructure, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled an ambitious development plan for Nicco Park and the adjacent Bhubaneswar Lake area on Wednesday. The project aims to transform the region into a world-class destination that will attract both local visitors and international tourists.
Spanning over 3,260 hectares, the first phase of the project will focus on revitalizing Nicco Park. The development plan includes a wide range of modern amenities designed to boost the area’s appeal. Among the planned upgrades are improved lighting, beautification efforts around the lake, cycling tracks, an Ayurvedic park, foot overbridges, fine dining restaurants, hotels, and other cutting-edge facilities.
“This project will create a modern, eco-friendly, and vibrant tourism hub, elevating Bhubaneswar’s reputation and establishing it as a premier destination for visitors from within the state and beyond,” the Chief Minister said.
The announcement was made in a meeting attended by several key officials, including Minister for Housing and Urban Development Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Vice Chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) N. Thirumala Naik, and Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Rajesh Prabhakar Patil.
