Bhubaneswar, May 6: The Vigilance on Friday has arrested live Stock Inspector of Kalarahanga, Jagannath Rout after he was found in possession of almost Rs 7 crore.
The vigilance officers have informed that during the raid it was found that Rout was found in possession of disproportionate assets, that is 365% more than his known sources of income.
Upon being enquired about the hefty property, Rout could not account for satisfactorily.
Based on the raid, a case has been registered against Rout and his spouse under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018.
Following Rout’s arrest, he was forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. The Hon’ble Court has remanded him to jail custody till 19.05.2022.
Notably, on May 5, the Vigilance has conducted raids on several properties of Rout on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his income at Kalarahanga in Raghunathpur on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
The Vigilance Directorate has traced as many as 90 plots belonging to the live stock inspector.
The agency has traced a flat worth Rs 50 lakh at Royal Lagoon Apartment in Raghunathpur while it has also found a triple storied building located at Raghunathpur. Similarly, Vigilance sleuths have detected a triple stried market complex, one double storied building, one single storied building belonging to Rout.
