Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri-Jagamara road turns death-trap for commuters

Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: Khandagiri-Jagamara road in Bhubaneswar city has become a death-trap for commuters. Excavated trenches and potholes left out for months together have made the whole road miserable to pass by, for the bikers even for the pedestrians. Most of the stretches of the Khandagiri-Jagamara road and Jagamara- Siripur road have been dug up by WATCO. Odisha for sewerage works for over two months. It has resulted in severe traffic problems in the areas during peak hours, as the roads have become congested for two-way traffic circulation. The denizens of  Bhubaneswar city are in severe distress as the road from Jagamara square to Siripur square is left dug for sewerage work for about 2 months. The general public has complained about severe inconvenience while passing through routes while they accuse the administration of not planning the sewerage project effectively. “People using these routes on a daily basis have been suffering a lot due to lack of proper planning of the project. It takes around half an hour to cross the 500-meter road. Emergency services like ambulance and fire brigade are also not spared from this inconveniences.” On the other hand, WATCO head, Karunakar Khatei said, they will discuss the issue with the contractors and will try to complete the work as soon as possible.
