Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: Bhubaneswar has added a new attraction for tourists and entertainment seekers with the opening of Odisha’s first Snow World at the newly revamped Kalinga Studio.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the modernised Kalinga Studio, which has been transformed into a comprehensive film production and entertainment hub with several state-of-the-art facilities.

The Snow World is one of the major attractions at the revamped studio. The facility offers visitors an experience of a snow-covered environment along with cold temperatures, providing a winter-like experience in the heart of Bhubaneswar.
The Snow World will have a separate entry ticket and is expected to become a new entertainment destination for residents as well as tourists visiting the state capital.
Modern Facilities at Kalinga Studio
Apart from Snow World, the redeveloped Kalinga Studio now features a range of modern facilities designed to support the film and entertainment industry.
These include indoor shooting floors, a snow house, chroma floors, a technology zone, sound recording facilities, dubbing and editing studios and advanced post-production infrastructure.
The facilities are aimed at meeting the changing technical requirements of filmmakers in the digital era.

CM Majhi Highlights Opportunities for Filmmakers
Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said Odia filmmakers would no longer need to travel to other states for several technical requirements related to film production.
He said the revamped studio has been equipped with world-class facilities, while additional infrastructure will be developed in the coming days.
Recalling the evolution of Odia cinema, Majhi highlighted the contribution of films such as Maa, Amadabata and Matira Manisha in strengthening the connection between Odia literature and cinema during the 1950s and 1960s.
From Film Studio to Entertainment Hub
Kalinga Studio was established in 1980 with the objective of supporting film production in Odisha. However, natural disasters and rapid technological changes over the years created the need for its redevelopment.

The revamped facility is now expected to serve not only filmmakers but also the wider entertainment and tourism sector.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the growing contribution of young Odia talent in acting, direction, cinematography, animation, sound design and digital storytelling. He encouraged young filmmakers to draw inspiration from Odisha’s folk traditions, history and cultural heritage.
During the inauguration, Majhi also unveiled the new official portal of the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC).
With the addition of Snow World and modern film-production infrastructure, the revamped Kalinga Studio is expected to emerge as a new destination for entertainment, tourism and creative industries in Bhubaneswar.
