Bhubaneswar: Driver arrested for selling owner’s car

Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: A man has been arrested for selling his owner’s car in Bhubaneswar, police said on Friday. The accused has been identified as Ashok Kumar Jena (24), a resident of Ghasipura area in Keonjhar district. He was working as a driver for Alakananda Parida of Khandagiri area since 2018. As per reports, the accused took Alakanda’s Baleno car for servicing at his friend’s garage. After 15 days on being asked about the car, he said the car needs few more days to be ready. Later, he fled from Alakanand’s place without any notice following which Alakanand lodged a complaint at Khandagiri police station in this regard on November 17 last year. The police had launched a probe into the matter and nabbed the accused from his residence in Ghasipura late on Wednesday night. During interrogation the accused revealed that he had sold the car to a broker named Alok of Chakeisiani area in Bhubaneswar at Rs 2.5 lakh. We are trying to trace out Alok, said Khandagiri police.
