Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: Wet markets have drawn huge crowds this morning ahead of beginning of the Kartik from Sunday as people of Odisha do not have non-vegetarian food during the holy month. Fish and meat markets in the city witnessed good crowd on Friday flouting social distancing norms to make the most of the two-day window. The rush at the shops selling these items was even more because Muslims were celebrating eid-e-milad-un-nabi today. People were blocking the road and gathering around the shops at Unit – IV fish and meat market. After waiting for more than an hour, I managed to buy meat, said Kiran Das, who spent Rs 700 for a kg of mutton today, which Rs 100 more than the usual rate. Chicken and fish shops too witnessed a similar kind of rush today.
