Bharat bandh: Private buses to stay off roads tomorrow

7/01/2020 at 5:11 PM

Bhubaneswar: Commuters across the State may face a tough time on Wednesday as private buses will go off the roads in view of the all-India strike called by Central trade unions.

The Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association has taken the decision in view of safety reasons.

Meanwhile, State Government has already declared that all the educational institutions across Odisha would remain closed tomorrow due to the proposed strike.

Odisha unit of the Congress also decided to support the proposed bandh called by the various trade unions in protest against the prevailing economic slowdown, rising unemployment, inflation, privatisation of public sector undertakings and codification of labour laws.

At least ten central trade unions – INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC – along with various sectoral independent federations and associations would participate in the bandh.
