Bhubaneswar: Train services have been disrupted across the State due to the two-day Bharat Bandh, called by trade unions, began this morning.
As many as 10 trade unions have supported the nationwide bandh called against the wrong economlc policy of the NDA Government at the Centre. The BIju Shramika Sangathan has extended its support. Besides, the BJD and the Congress have also supported the bandh.
Activists have staged Rail Roko at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore and Brahmapur railway stations.
The trade union activists have also staged road blockades at different places by burning tyres on roads. As a result, vehicular movement has been severely hit across the State.
Supply of raw materials to different industries in western Odisha has been stopped.
Schools and colleges have remained closed as per the direction of the Government. Shops and bazaars have also been closed in major cities across the State.
Adequate police personnel have been deployed to ensure that no untoward incident occurs during the bandh.
