Bhadrak, August 8: In a major crackdown on illicit liquor trade, the Excise Department in Bhadrak seized 510 litres of country-made liquor and impounded two two-wheelers during a raid in the Banta police limits. Three individuals, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the illegal activity.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Excise Deputy Superintendent Sucharita Mishra, with a dedicated team led by Bhadrak Excise Station Officer-in-Charge Srikant Murmu.
Acting on a tip-off, the excise team raided Gabarapur and Chhayalsingh villages, where they uncovered the large cache of illegal liquor. A motorcycle and a scooter suspected to be used in the transportation of the contraband were also seized.
The arrested individuals were later produced before court. The estimated market value of the seized liquor and vehicles is said to be over ₹2.5 lakh, officials stated.
The raiding party included Assistant Sub-Inspector Kshiroda Patra, and Constables Ajit Kumar Sinku, Sudarshan Palai, Paresh Tudu, and Jemamani Jamuda.
Following the successful raid, three separate cases have been registered at the Bhadrak Excise Station.
