Beware of Covid-19 vaccination fraud: Bhubaneswar DCP

Bhubaneswar, Jan 13: Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Dash has warned citizens to a potential increase in cybercrime by creating various shady websites to sell fake Covid-19 vaccine. In the light of the recent Covid-19 vaccination programme going to kick start on January 16, cyber crooks have started selling of counterfeit vaccines through different online platforms to dupe people. After several such complaints were reported before the Puri police, the Commissionerate Police has raised concerns. Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Dash has advised to beware of such fake calls assuring to provide Covid-19 vaccine online. The DCP has appealed people to avoid such calls and not to share Aadhar card number and bank account number with unknown caller to get Covid vaccine. The government does not call any individual for vaccination and the first phase of vaccination is only meant for health workers, the DCP informed.
