Berhampur, Oct 10: The vibrant city of Berhampur, known as the Silk City, ushered in the festive season on Wednesday, drawing large crowds eager to celebrate.
A total of 42 beautifully adorned pandals have been established throughout the city, with puja committees instructed to immerse their idols on October 14. In a bid to address environmental concerns, four temporary ponds have been constructed to safeguard local water bodies from pollution.
To ensure a smooth celebration, puja committees have stationed volunteers at their respective pandals. Berhampur’s Superintendent of Police, Saravana Vivek M, has emphasized adherence to guidelines concerning the use of DJs and loudspeakers, promoting a harmonious atmosphere during the festivities.
Local businesses are also getting into the festive spirit, enticing customers with lucky draws and special offers to enhance the celebratory mood. However, the joy of the season is somewhat tempered by rising prices of essential commodities and vegetables, raising concerns among residents about the potential impact on Dussehra donations.
As the city prepares for the celebrations, the community remains hopeful that the spirit of togetherness and joy will prevail despite these challenges.
