Bengaluru, May 6: In a dream come true decision for ‘9 to 5’ corporate workers, Chaitanya Ramalingegowda the co-founder of a Bengaluru-based startup named ‘Wakefit’ has announced an official nap time of 30 minutes for its employees.
Ramalingegowda announced the news through an email that read, “We have been in the business of sleep for over six years now and yet have failed to do justice to a crucial aspect of rest – the afternoon nap. We have always taken naps seriously, but starting today, we will be taking things up a notch.”
He further said that a study by NASA suggests that a 26-minute catnap can enhance performance by 33 per cent while a Harvard study showed how naps prevent burnout.
“We have decided to normalise afternoon naps at work and declare 2 to 2:30 pm as official nap time for all our employees. From now on, you will have the right to nap between 2 to 2:30 pm. Your calendar will be blocked during this time as official nap time.” The email added.
Wakefit, that seems to have been inspired from Google letting its employees take a nap during their office hours, is also working towards creating cosy nap pods and quiet rooms in the office to build a perfect nap environment for its employees.
The startup’s official Twitter account also shared a screenshot of the mail.
Responding to it a netizen said “This half an hour NAP converts one day into two quality working sessions. You people are going to set new trends in market. Keep it up.”
“Chaitanya Ramalingegowda Man trust me you gonna remodel the entire process of how corporate culture works, it would be a gamechanger decision and first of its kind…kudos to the entire management team who broke the barrier and took this decision. Its more like one of its kind. More to go.” Another twitter used said.
