Kolkata, April 30: On the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has inaugurated the newly constructed Jagannath Temple in the scenic seaside town of Digha.
The grand temple, which stands as a majestic symbol of devotion and architectural excellence, has been under construction for the past three years. Built with meticulous planning and devotion, it is now poised to emerge as a prominent religious destination not just for West Bengal, but for devotees across India.
Addressing a large and enthusiastic gathering at the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the temple's construction. “I extend my sincere thanks to the engineers, workers, architects, and all those involved in this remarkable project. Their hard work has culminated in a place of divine beauty and reverence,” Banerjee said.
In a gesture reflecting her inclusive approach, Banerjee also highlighted the presence of people from diverse faiths at the ceremony. “It is heartening to see people from all religions joining us today. This temple is not just a place of worship but a beacon of unity and cultural harmony,” she noted.
Banerjee expressed confidence that the newly built temple would, in the years to come, become a major pilgrimage site. With Digha already being a popular tourist destination, the addition of a revered temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath is expected to draw even more visitors and devotees, enriching the region’s spiritual and economic profile.
The inauguration aligns with Akshay Tritiya, a day considered highly auspicious in Hindu tradition, further elevating the spiritual significance of the event. Devotees believe that any initiative started on this day is bound to prosper.
