Bhogarai, Mar 12: On Friday, Balasore fisherman netted two Bhetki fishes, which fetched him Rs 16 lakh.
Making it the costliest fish to be caught along the Balasore coastline, the two fishes, which weighed around 30kg, was netted by a fisherman, who set out in the sea in their small boat on Friday.
While returning to the Digha coast after netting his regular catch of pomfret and other varieties, they caught the bhekti fishes.
News of the precious catch spread like wildfire. By the time the fisherman touched the coast, traders were already waiting there to take part in the impending auction. The two fishes were sold out at Rs 16,000 per kg.
