Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: The Odisha government today began vaccination drive at 161 sites across the state. The vaccination drive has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Elaborate arrangements have been made to start Covid-19 vaccination at 161 centres across 30 districts, informed CBK Mohanty, Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET).
A total of 16,100 healthcare workers of Odisha would receive the Covid-vaccine on the first day of the mass vaccination drive on Saturday.
Odisha has received 4.08 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine and 20,000 doses of Covaxin vaccine in the first lot and has dispatched to the cold chain points in the districts, the officials said.
Meanwhile, preparations for launching the much-awaited Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday have been completed at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA).
IMS and SUM Hospital, which was chosen as one of the centres for a clinical trial of the Covid-19 vaccine – Covaxin– earlier, is in the list of six medical facilities selected in the capital city where the vaccine would be administered.
