Malkangiri, Jan 5: A bear that was stranded on a tree at MV 20 village in Malkangiri has been safely rescued after a long operation on Wednesday. The rescued bear has been kept under observation since it has sustained injuries due to the local’s attack. Sources said a bear cub had climbed up onto a big tree after getting scared by the locals. However, it worried them since it did not come down for hours together. Following this, the locals managed to get the cub down but in vain. Consequently, they informed Malkangiri forest officials. Acting on it, an operation was initiated by the forest officials. Accordingly, a net was spread under the tree and the cub was impelled to fall into the net. However, the cub was fallen to the net and was trapped after a long operation of around 12 hours. The injured cub has been nourished after primary care. It is kept under observation which will be released in the forest conveniently, said Malkangiri Range Officer, Jagannath Bisoi.
