BCCI contributes Rs 51 crore to PM CARES Fund to fight COVID-19

New Delhi, Mar 29: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday pledged a donation of Rs 51 crore to the newly set up Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Fund (PM CARES Fund) to combat COVID-19. Sourav Ganguly, President, Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary and office bearers of the BCCI announced to donate Rs 51 crore to the PM CARES Fund to contribute towards strengthening the nation's disaster management capacities and encourage research to combat COVID-19 and to protect Indian citizens. The out break of the coronavirus is first and formost a public health emergency and the BCCI has a firm resolve that the nation gets all possible help to cope withthe testing times, said the board. The board along with its state associations will continue to monitor and work closely with the Government of India, state governments and other state regulatory bodies and is committed to provide support to the state machinery in the face of adversity, it added.
