Puri: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid foundation stone for a mega drinking water project at Chharichak in Gomundia under Krushnaprasad block in Puri district under the ‘Buxi Jagabandhu Assured Drinking Water to all Habitation’ (BASUDHA) scheme.
The proposed project will provide drinking water to 147 villages, including 55 of Ganjam block in Ganjam district and 92 villages of Krushnaprasad block in Puri district. A total of Rs 183 crore will be spent for the project.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty, Puri MP Pinaki Misra, Brahmagiri MLA Sanjay Dasburma among many others were present.
On Saturday, the Chief launched ‘BASUDHA’ Helpline-1916, a dedicated grievance management initiative for rural water supply at the State Secretariat. He also unveiled the logo of BASUDHA.
The helpline will receive complaints regarding drinking supply in rural areas between 6 am and 6 pm. The grievances will be addressed in a time-bound manner.
BASUDHA was launched in 2017-18 as a tribute to Buxi Jagabandhu in the bi-centenary year of Paika Rebellion.
