Bengaluru, July 28: Basavaraj Bommai was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday. Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy to Bommai at the Raj Bhawan here. Lingayat leader Bommai took oath as the 23rd Chief Minister of the state. He was chosen as the state’s Chief Minister, a day after incumbent B.S. Yediyurappa stepped down. In choosing the 61-year-old Bommai, the BJP has decided to stick with a leader from the influential Lingayat community. His father, S.R. Bommai, had also served as Chief Minister of Karnataka.
