Ban on participation of devotees in ‘nagarjuna besha’

Puri, Oct 29: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has imposed ban on participation of devotees in the ‘nagarjuna besha’ which will be held on November 27. The administration today finalised the itinerary of the ritual. The ritual which was last held on November 16,1994 will be observed after a period of 26 years. Deities Jagannath and Balabhadra take on the form of warriors during the ritual. Earlier on Monday, the temple administration has conducted a ceremony to mark the start of preparations for the festival. The shrine became off limits to devotees from March 20 in wake of Covid-19 outbreak.
