Balipatna, Dec 5: Hundreds of local residents, including women, sat on a dharna in front of the Community Health Centre in Balipatna on Saturday, demanding proper health care service, facilities of pregnant women, renovation of the building and smooth distribution of medicines under various government schemes.
Over 100 patients of the nearby visit the health centre daily. However, locals alleged that shortage of doctors had hampered the health services at the centre.
Residents of Balipatna nad Balianta blocks in Khordha district depend on it for their health care needs. However, owing to shortage of doctors and proper health care facilities, the patients are forced to visit private nursing homes and hospitals.
The agitators sought fulfilment of their demands and also threatened to intensify their protest if their demands are not fulfilled.
