Balasore, June 9: In a tragic incident, three men lost their lives due to electrocution while working on a septic tank in Gagandhuli village under Simulia police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Babaji Majhi and Bapi Majhi. Efforts are underway to confirm the identity of the third victim.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred while the men were engaged in work on a septic tank and accidentally came into contact with live electric wires. One of the workers died instantly at the site, while the remaining two were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bhadrak. However, doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Following the incident, Simulia police reached the spot and have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the electrocution and whether safety protocols were violated.
The sudden deaths have cast a pall of gloom over the local community, prompting calls for improved safety measures during manual labour involving electricity.
