Baitarani River in Bhadrak continues to be in spate

Bhadrak, Aug 14: Baitarani River in Odisha’s Bhadrak district continued to be in spate after four days of incessant rains in the upper catchment areas under the influence of a low-pressure area that has formed over the Bay of Bengal.

One of the prime tributaries of Baitarani River, Salandi River is also swelling raising concern among the locals.

As per reports, the water level in Baitarani River breached the danger mark near Akhuapada, with water flowing at 17.96 metre against the danger mark of 17.83 metre at 6 am.

The water levels of tributary rivers like Reva, Kapali, Genguti, Kochila, etc have also risen. The farmlands in Chandbali, Tihidi, Dhamanagar and Bhandari Pokhari blocks of the district are waterlogged.

The district administration has shifted around 30 persons of different wards of Bhadrak town to flood shelters.
