Awareness week on immunisation held at SUM Hospital

Bhubaneswar, May 3: A week-long awareness program on immunization was conducted by the Department of Pediatrics at the IMS and SUM Hospital here from April 24 to 30 to educate parents, expectant mothers and public in general about the importance of vaccination. A seminar on the subject was held on April 29 which was inaugurated by Prof. Gangadhar Sahoo, Pro-Vice Chancellor of SOA and Dean of IMS and SUM Hospital. Additional Deans Prof. Sanghamitra Mishra and Dr. Ajay Kumar Jena were present. A poster competition was organised for resident surgeons and a quiz competition held for post-graduate students during the week. The program was conducted by Dr. Mamata Debi Mohanty, Head of the department of Pediatrics and faculty members Dr. Mrutyunjay Dash and Dr. Bibhudatta Das. Guidance was provided in the counseling sessions by Prof. Saroj Satpathy, Prof. Arakhita Swain, Dr. Dilip Dash, Dr. Jasashree Choudhury, Dr. Anuspandana Mohapatra, Dr. Swarup Bisoi, Dr. Rachita Sarangi, Dr. Braja Behera and Dr. Bikrant Prusty. Dr. Basudev Biswal conducted the quit competition. Prizes were distributed among the winners of quiz and poster competitions.
