Avani Lekhara bags second medal at Tokyo Paralympics

Tokyo, Sept 3: Avani Lekhara scripted history as she bagged her second medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. She became the first Indian woman to win two medals in the same edition of the Games. The 19-year-old who had earlier won the gold medal in R-2 women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1, ensured a bronze medal in R8 50m rifle 3P SH1 event. She earned a total score of 445.9 points. Worth mentioning, Avani is the only Indian woman to win two medals in Paralympics and also only the fourth Indian after Joginder Singh Bedi, Mariyappan Thangavelu and Devendra Jhajharia to win multiple medals at the Paralympics.
