Auto driver’s honesty: Hands over passenger’s bag with valuables to police

Bhubaneswar, Mar 12: An auto driver in Bhubaneswar named Balakrishna Padhy has set an example for others. He surrendered a passenger’s bag containing cash and valuable documents to Tamando police.  Police sources said, Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, a native of Sunabeda under Koraput district who serves as an engineer in Jharkhand had come to Bhubaneswar three days back for some official work. Subsequently, he rode on the auto of Balkrishna Padhi to meet his friend near Tamando. Meanwhile, Soumya forgot his bag to pick from the auto that contained the bank passbook, pan card, ATM card Aadhar with one thousand rupees.  Auto driver Balakrishna discovered the bag after Soumya got off from the auto. He tried to find Soumya for some time but in-vain and surrendered the bag to Tamando police.  Tamando police managed to find the contact details of Suoumya from his bank account and contacted him about his missing bag. At this time Soumya had already left for Jharkhand. He assigned his friend Biswaranjan Pradhan to collect his bag from Tamando police station. Accordingly, Tamando police handed over the bag to Biswaranjan on the Thursday.  Biswaranjan has done a commendable job. He will be felicitated by police, said the Inspector In-charge of Tamando police station Pramod Kumar Patnaik.
