Bhubaneswar: The attacker of Cuttack trader was injured and nabbed in police encounter at the Bishwaguru College ground in Cuttack during wee hours of Tuesday.
The injured criminal was identified as Manu alial Manoj Swain, the prime accused in the throat slitting of businessman case. He has been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition.
In the incident, three police personnel, including Malgodown police IIC, were injured as Manu hurled a bomb at them while they were trying to nab him. The police have also recovered three live bombs from him.
According to reports, Manu had stabbed sugar mill owner Damodar Bhawsinka as he denied giving extortion to him on Saturday night. During investigation, police could know about Manu’s involvement. The cops got to know about his presence at the college ground. Manu hurled a bomb at the police when they approached him. With no other option left, the police opened fire at him and nabbed him in injured condition.
There are many other cases pending against him at different police station, said reports.
