Bhubaneswar, Mar 12: Commissionerate Police is all set to launch a special app to record database of hoteliers and guests in the twin cities. This app is proposed to be named as ‘Athithi’. It will maintain up to date information of the guests checked in and checked out in all the hotels, lodges and guest houses in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Sources said, there are almost 978 registered hotels in the capital city. Apart from it, some hotels and lodges are running without notice of the police. Similarly, there are a large number of hotels in Cuttack. As on practice, all the registered hotels were submitting particulars of their guests once in a week or on monthly basis. Following which petty crimes were easily organised from hotel rooms and lodges with fake identification proofs. The concept of Atithi will keep vigil on the guests and help to provide correct information on hoteliers and guests, said a police official.
