Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Secretary Amiya Kumar Sarangi retired from services today. Earlier, his tenure was extended four times.
Assembly Speaker Pradip Amat had recommended Governor Ganeshi Lal for Sarangi’s service extension for the fifth time from April 1 to September 30, 2019.
The Speaker argued that as the new Assembly will be formed soon, Sarangi has the required experience for smooth formation of the new House. However, the Governor reportedly raised objection and did not approve the proposal, sources said.
Meanwhile, Sisirakanta Swain has been appointed as the new Assembly Secretary.
The tenure of Sarangi has already been extended four times since his superannuation on April 1, 2013 till March 31, 2019.
