Bhubaneswar: The 15th Odisha Legislative Assembly condoled the deaths of former Government Deputy Chief Whip Prasanna Kumar Pal, former Member Banshidhar Sahoo, former Assam Rifles Rifle Man Champeswar Mahakud, former CRPF Driver Braja Mohan Behera and former Doordarshan Cameraman Achyutananda Sahu on the first day of its 14th session (Winter Session) here on Friday.
As the House met, Leader of the House and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik brought an obituary reference in the name of the above departed souls and expressed deep grief over their sad demises. He termed the death of former Members of the House, security personnel and cameraman as irraparable loss to the nation, State and their family members.
Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and BJP Legislature Party Leader KV Singh Deo too joined the Leader of the House in mourning the sad demise of the former members, security personnel and the cameraman and expressed condolences.
Expressing deep grief over the deaths, Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat said the House’s condolences would be conveyed to the respective bereaved families.
A one-minute silence was observed by Members as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
