Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: Odisha Assembly could not transact any business for the third day today over the paddy procurement issues.
While the Opposition BJP caused uproar accusing the state government of failing to purchase paddy from the farmers forcing them to commit suicide, the ruling BJD members on the other hand sought apology from BJP’s Subash Panigrahi for attempting suicide in the House on Friday. They alleged that Panigrahi has destroyed the sanctity of the House by trying to commit suicide.
Speaker Dr Surjya Narayan Patro had to adjourn the proceedings of the House frequently throughout the entire day to bring back normalcy.
However, finally finding it difficult he announced closure of the House for the day.
The issue of alleged failure of the government to procure paddy from the farmers continued to dominate the proceedings of the Odisha Assembly from the beginning this morning.
