Bhubaneswar: Odisha has the honour of hosting many national and international events, this time Athletic Federation of India is likely to organise India's final athletics preparatory camp for the Asian Games 2026 from 18 August to 8 September at Kalinga Stadium here.

Around 60 athletes, coaches, and support staff will take part in the camp as part of the team's final preparations for the Games.

Most of the athletes currently training in Spała, Poland, are expected to return to Bhubaneswar to compete at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet on 22 August, after which they will continue training at the camp.

The 20th edition of the Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 4, 2026, with athletes competing across 43 sports at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

In the last edition of Asian Games at Hangzhou 2023, India crossed the 100-medal mark for the first time at the Asian Games, becoming only the fourth nation after China, Japan and South Korea to achieve the milestone. The record-breaking campaign has set the benchmark as India now look to build a strong contingent for the 2026 edition.

“My State always provided the best of the international standard facilities to the players. Recently the Odisha Government re-laid a new synthetic track for the National Inter State Athletics meet at Kalinga Stadium. I got selected for the national women’s 4X100 relay team, and will prepare myself for the Asian Games at my home turf”, said sprinter Srabani Nanda, who is training in Poland now.
