Ashwini Vaishnaw possesses a decent portfolio in Railway

New Delhi, July 8: A day after he was allocated all important Railway portfolio, Ashwini Vaishnaw assumed the office today. The former bureaucrat has a very good track record with decent experience in Railway. Vaishnaw was a former IAS officer and entrepreneur before he was elected to Rajya Sabha in 2019. He had served GE Transportation as Managing Director after he came back to India in 2010 studying in Wharton University of Pennsylvania. Then he joined Siemens as the Vice President, Locomotives and Head, Urban Infrastructure Strategy. After passing out B Tech from Jai Narain Vyas University, he had done his M Tech from IIT, Kanpur. He had joined the IAS in 1994 as an Odisha cadre officer and was the collector of Cuttack and Balasore district. Later, he had gone on Central deputation and became the Private Secretary to Prime Minister, AB Vajpayee.Later, he went to abroad to prosecute MBA and came back to India in 2010 and quit the IAS to join the corporate sector.
