New Delhi, July 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, hailed the swift and decisive response of the Indian Armed Forces to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, revealing that they avenged the incident in just 22 minutes through Operation Sindoor, targeting multiple terror launch pads across Pakistan.

Calling the ongoing Parliament session a “Vijay Utsav” (celebration of victory), PM Modi emphasized that the operation showcased not just India's military prowess, but also national unity. “This ‘Vijay Utsav’ is a tribute to our brave armed forces and the spirit of 140 crore Indians,” he said.

The Prime Minister stated that following the Pahalgam attack, India anticipated Pakistan’s attempts at nuclear intimidation. However, on the night of May 6-7, Indian forces executed precise retaliatory strikes. “We had resolved that the perpetrators of the April 22 attack would face consequences—and they did. In 22 minutes, our forces struck and dismantled terror hubs across Pakistan,” he declared.

PM Modi asserted that Pakistan’s efforts at nuclear blackmail failed. “We exposed their nuclear bluff. India will no longer tolerate such tactics. Our response destroyed multiple Pakistani airbases—some of which still remain inoperable,” he noted.

He also underlined that the Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 people, was a calculated attempt to incite communal violence by targeting tourists based on religion. “The attackers tried to plunge India into riots. But I thank the citizens for standing united and defeating that conspiracy,” Modi said.

Recounting his immediate return from abroad after the attack, the Prime Minister said he convened a high-level meeting and issued firm directions to retaliate. “We placed full trust in our armed forces. They were given a free hand—to choose the time, place, and method of response.”

He further added that Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s technological edge and self-reliance. “Made-in-India drones and missiles exposed the weaknesses in Pakistan’s defence infrastructure. Our preparedness in the last decade ensured minimal damage on our side while dealing a critical blow to the enemy,” Modi said.

Highlighting key targets, he said: “Even highly fortified terror hubs like Bahawalpur and Muridke were demolished. The world has now witnessed the emergence of an Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence capability.”

Concluding his address, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the people of India for their unwavering support during the operation. “I’m here to present the truth before this House, and to hold a mirror to those who refuse to acknowledge India’s side. The country stood with me, blessed me, and stood with the forces. For that, I am deeply thankful,” he said.
