Entering the final series of shots, South Korea demanded perfection from the Indian athletes. Park and Choi finished strongly with 10s. Chikitha scored a 9 on her final arrow, while Sahil delivered a 10. This brought the final score to a tie and forced a sudden-death decider.
Securing victory under pressure
Chikitha and Park both landed perfect 10s in the deciding shootout, though Park placed his arrow slightly closer to the center ring. Sahil held his nerve under immense pressure to deliver another 10. Needing a perfect score to stay in the match, Choi stumbled and scored a 9. This single point difference ultimately handed the championship and the Olympic quota to the Indian team.
This triumph marks India's eighth gold medal at these Asian Games, pushing the national tally to a highly impressive 54 total medals. The overall count currently includes 21 silvers and 25 bronze medals across all sporting events. Earlier in the day, Chikitha celebrated another spectacular gold medal performance. She joined teammates Prithika Pradeep and Jyothi Surekha Vennam to defeat China with a score of 238-234 in the women's compound team final. This completed a remarkable double victory for herself and boosted India's overall standing in the tournament.
