Annual flora and fauna survey in Chilika Lake to be conducted on Friday

Bhubaneswar, Jan 13: The Chilika Development Authority (CDA) will conduct the fourth annual flora and fauna survey in Chilika lagoon on Friday, to assess the bio-diversity of the lagoon eco-system. Total 100 technical personnel will be engaged for the enumeration. “All Boat Owners Associations and also PFCSs Members were requested not to ply the boats from 6A.M. to 12 Noon. So, visitors are requested not to visit Chilika during this period,” said an official. The annual bird counting exercise and Chilika on January 5 had revealed record presence of more than 12 lakhs of migratory bird. The lake witnesses congregation of more than one million migratory birds for two successive years.
