Gajapati, June 24: An Andhra-sponsored agency is repairing a check dam in Odisha’s Gajapati district. It was revealed after an executing agency employed a handful of laborers to mend up the cracks and corrosion of the Jangalapadu check dam of the Krushna Sagar Minor Irrigation Project(MIP) on Friday. Sources said that a few laborers with an Andhra Pradesh-based contractor were spotted at the Jangalapadu check dam repairing the check dams. Subsequently, the locals informed it to the MIP authorities in this connection. Acting on the input, a team led by an Engineer visited the spot and stopped the civil work undertaken by the Andhra officials. Meanwhile, the enraged farmers detained the MIP official for not repairing the check dam for long.
