Andhra cops enter into Kotia villages

Koraput, Sep 7: There seems to be no end to power-play tactics by the Andhra Pradesh government in trying to establish a hold over Odisha’s Kotia. Despite the Supreme Court’s advice to resolve the border issues between Odisha and Andhra amicably, the AP is still resorting to inducement tactics to establish their hold over the villages in Kotia gram Panchayat.

The Andhra police on Monday conducted a public grievance redressal camp in the village. The AP government has been organising such camps in various villages in Kotia since 2019. On the day, a police team from Salur led by in-charge officer of Kotia conducted the camp at Neradivalsa.

This apparently is the first time a police team has carried out the activity. During the camp, villagers demanded documents like ration cards, Aadhaar cards besides raising the issue of the non-availability of bus service in their locality.

On August 31, The Supreme Court advised the Odisha and the Andhra Pradesh governments to mutually resolve the Kotia row through talks at a political level. The apex court bench comprising Justice Khanwilkar and Justice Sanjiv Khanna has granted six-week time to both parties to resolve the border dispute issue.
