Cuttack, August 8: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a two-day Odisha visit, paid tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at his birthplace Janakinath Bhavan in Cuttack on the occasion of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
Shah, accompanied by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradha, paid floral tributes to Bose by garlanding his statue.
The top BJP leaders also took part in a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ here.
Shah is also scheduled to attend an event marking the 75th anniversary of Odia daily ‘Prajatantra’, founded by noted freedom fighter and former Chief Minister Harekrushna Mahatab.
Later in the evening, he will return to Bhubaneswar where he is slated to take part in a book reading programme in Hotel Mayfair at around 4 pm and then hold discussions with the party’s core committee members, and office bearers. It is expected that he might give targets to party leaders for the 2024 general elections.
He will return to Delhi in the evening.
Earlier today, he visited Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar and offered prayers.
