Mumbai, June 2: The release of Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt’s much-awaited action entertainer ‘Alpha’ has been advanced by a week. The film, which was originally scheduled to release on July 10, will now arrive in theatres on July 3.
According to reports, producer Aditya Chopra decided to prepone the release after the makers of ‘Dhamaal 4’ shifted their film’s release date to July 17. The move is expected to give ‘Alpha’ a wider window at the box office.
The film has already witnessed multiple delays during production, prompting the makers to look for an ideal release slot. With no major Bollywood release lined up for July 3, the production house believes the date offers the perfect opportunity for a grand theatrical opening.
Interestingly, ‘Alpha’ will release between two comedy entertainers—Welcome to the Jungle, slated for June 26, and Dhamaal on July 17. The makers are optimistic that audiences will welcome a high-octane action thriller amid the comedy-dominated release calendar.
Part of the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe, ‘Alpha’ stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role, alongside Bobby Deol in a pivotal character. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Shiv Rawail.
Notably, ‘Alpha’ will be the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe, marking a significant milestone for the blockbuster franchise.
