<strong>Ailing tusker moves around Keonjhar forest</strong>

Keonjhar, July 23: An ailing tusker is moving around the Bansapal forest in Keonjhar district. The forest officials track the movements of the elephant in order to treat it after examining its health. Sources said that locals of the Lunaghar area under the BJP Forest Range spotted a lone tusker on Thursday which was pulling its hind legs after being quarantined from a 6-member elephant herd.Subsequently, they informed the range officials in this connection. Acting on it, a team of forest officials led by Ranger, Manas Kumar Murmu visited the spot to take stock of the matter. However, the pachyderm trudged into the deep forest being panicked by the crowd. It’s why, neither the health condition of the elephant was assessed nor it could be treated so far. Effort is underway to locate the ailing elephant. Once it is spotted at a safe place its medical examination will be conducted by a team of wildlife experts, said Ranger Murmu.
