Ailing elephant roams in Athagarh forest:Traced by drone

Cuttack, May 18: An ailing elephant is roaming in Athagarh forest in Odisha's Cuttack distirct. It was revealed from the output of a drone camera set for trace and track of the elephants. Wildlife department has ventured into the forest to dress the wounds of the pachyderm. Sources said, the elephant trackers spotted an ailing elephant in the Brahmanabasta forest under the Khuntuni Range limits on Wednesday and reported it to the wildlife authorities. The elephant was reportedly pulling one of its hind legs. {"id":185163,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Accordingly a team of forest was deployed in the forest in  order to trace the ailed pachyderm and initiate its treatment. However, it was nowhere found there as it trudged into the deeper forest at that time. As a result, a drone camera was utilized to track and trace it in the forest. Meanwhile, the drone ascertained its location by the afternoon. {"id":185164,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Acting on it, a tranquilizer team,  mobilized from the Satakosia Wildlife Sanctuary in Angul reached the spot and tried to tranquilize the elephant but in vain. Since the elephant strayed into the more bushy forest, the team was unable to inject the tranquilizing agent to the elephant.
