Baripada, August 11: Karanjia Forest Officials recovered an elephant carcass from the Benuadhar forest in Mayurbhanj district on Monday. 

According to the forest officials, the pachyderm was traced ill  for a couple of days.However,it succumbed to its ailments all of a sudden while the forest outfits were preparing it to tranquilize and treat by a team of veterinarians.

The carcass was disposed of after post-mortem. However, an investigation was intiated to rule out any other reasons,  that led to the death of the jumbo, said a forest officer.
