Mumbai, June 13: Bollywood stars have expressed deep grief over the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171, which claimed 241 lives on June 12. Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared an emotional video on Instagram, offering prayers and support to the victims’ families. “Today, neither language nor logic can help. We are with you. The entire country stands with every affected family. Om Shanti,” he said.
Shah Rukh Khan also expressed heartbreak on X, writing, “Absolutely heartbroken… my prayers for the victims, their families and all affected.” Actress Anushka Sharma shared her condolences on Instagram, writing, “Saddened to hear about the plane crash today. Thoughts and prayers with the passengers and their families.”
AI171 was en route to London’s Gatwick Airport when it crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. Of the 242 people on board—including 169 Indians, 53 Britons, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian—only one British national of Indian origin survived. The flight was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kundar. A Mayday call was made, but contact was lost soon after departure.
