Administration of Tocilizumab injection to Covid patients in SCB Hospital results success

Cuttak, May 8: Tocilizumab injection, which is considered to be an alternative for Corona cure, has successfully been tested in Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital (SCB), Cuttck on Friday. Tocilizumab injection was administered to ten Covid patients for the first time in the premier hospital of Odisha for test. However, the patients those received jabs of this injection are doing well, having no side effects. According to the SCB authorities, the government on Friday formed an expert committee of three senior doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack on administration of Tocilizumab to Covid patients. Accordingly, ten selective Covid patients were injected with Tocilizumab drug yesterday, strictly following the standard operation procedure issued by the Ministry of Health. HoD of Electro Medicine and rheumatology Dr Bidyut Das, Professor of pulmonary medicine Dr Jyoti Pattanaik and Associate Professor of medicine Dr PK Thatoi supervised the health conditions of the patient and found no contraindication with the patients. Notably, Tocilizumab is a rheumatoid arthritis drug which is used in moderate to severe Covid patients so that their condition doesn’t worsen further.
