Active COVID-19 cases in India crosses 4,000 mark, five deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi, June 3: Amid a steady uptick, the active COVID-19 cases in India crossed the 4,000 mark and rose to 4,026 with five new deaths being reported in the last 24 hours.

The Union Health Ministry data released on Tuesday (June 3, 2025) confirmed the updated figures.

As per reports, Kerala remains the most affected state followed by Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Delhi. Currently, Kerala has the most active cases in the country with 1,446, followed by Maharashtra with 494, Gujarat with 397, and Delhi with 393 cases.

According to the data, five people have died — one each in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, and two in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. Since January this year, a total of 37 deaths have been reported across the country.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in Odisha reached 15 on Monday after three more people tested positive, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department of the state government.

Most cases have been found in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Khurda.

However, Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra said there hasn’t been a big rise in COVID-19 cases in Odisha compared to other states.

He also mentioned that the state hasn’t received any new guidelines from the Centre yet, but standard safety measures are already in place.

An 85-year-old COVID-19 patient with other health problems died recently, but Dr. Mishra said no other COVID-19 deaths have been reported so far.
