Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Rakendra Prasad Sharma has suspended Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and Odisha Police Officers’ Association president Satyajit Mishra, who demanded a special law for the safety and security of police officers.
He was suspended for alleged indiscipline and misconduct.
The development came days after Mishra held a press conference and demanded enforcement of a separate legislation to book offenders who attack police officials on duty.
The Odisha Police Officers’ Association is a body of over 3,000 Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors.
Mishra now works as the ACP at the Grievance Cell at the Commissionerate Headquarters.
Notably, Mishra organised a press conference on Monday to put pressure on the Government after an angry mob thrashed Baliapal police station inspector in-charge (IIC) Prabhu Kalyan Acharya following the mysterious death of a minor boy in a dhaba in Balasore district.
