Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre to upgrade at Rs 577.49 cr

Cuttack, Mar 15: Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC), Cuttack will be upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 577.49 crore. Director, AHRCC Prof Dr Lalatendu Sarangi said that the blue print on up-gradation of the hospital has been finalised with a project cost of Rs 577.49 crore. The proposed modernisation work will be completed within five years. Primarily, an amount of Rs 30 crore is going to be utilised in this fiscal year. It will be spent on the up-gradation of the the existing 220-beded hospital to 500 beds equipped with essential amenities. Subsequently, nine new departments will be set up, including a medical gastroenterology, plastic surgery, uro-oncology, bone and soft tissue technology, thoracic oncology, hepato-pancreatic bliary unit, breast unit, palliative care and bone marrow transplant unit. Apart from it, 15 modular operation theaters and intensive care units will be set up along with post complicacy back-up units, said Dr Sarangi.
