Accident of Odia pilgrims in Jharkhand: CM announces ex-gratia

Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: Expressing deep grief over the death of the Odia pilgrims in a bus accident in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased. Patnaik has asked to provide proper treatment to the injured. All the deceased and injured persons were reportedly from Angul, Dhenkanal, and Mayurbhanj districts in Odisha. The Chief Minister directed the Mayurbhanj district Collector to coordinate with the Jharkhand government to make arrangements for all the pilgrims to return to their homes. Four pilgrims from Odisha were killed after the bus they were travelling in met with an accident near Katkamsandi in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand in the wee hours of Sunday. Notably, at least four persons were killed and 29 others injured after the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck head-on in Hazaribagh district in the wee hours of Sunday.
