Puri, Jan 26: Puri police has arrested an accused who was absconded after raping a minor girl on Wednesday.

Puri SP, Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh informed it in the evening.

The accused has been identified as Mahesh Mohanty, a native of Baliapanda in Puri town.

Singh said a special squad has arrested Mohanty near Bhubaneswar after a rigorous operation.

Mohanty had allegedly raped the 5-year daughter of his neighbor on Tuesday. Subsequently, he escaped from the spot after the victim’s father lodged a complaint with the Balipanda police.
